Plants indoors have become an integral part of modern-day home decor and lifestyle. They add color and freshness to the air while at the same time helping create a peaceful environment indoors. While many people buy attractive planters and containers from various stores, such as Just Pots in Austin, the positioning of the plants indoors also plays an important part in their health and longevity. The positioning of the plants indoors can help them live longer while at the same time improving the overall aesthetic appeal indoors.

    Near Natural Light Sources

One of the most important elements for the growth of plants is natural lighting. There are many house plants that grow best if they are located near a window where they will get enough natural lighting. For most plants, a south window will provide the most natural lighting throughout the day. An east window will provide morning lighting that works well for many different kinds of indoor plants.

Not all plants need direct natural lighting. Some plants prefer indirect lighting, which can be accomplished by locating the plants away from the window or behind a sheer curtain. This helps the plants get enough lighting without being exposed to the harmful rays that could burn the leaves.

Living Room Corners with Filtered Light

The living room is one of the rooms that can be used for placing indoor plants since it is normally well-lit and has ample space. The corners that receive soft and indirect lighting are the best for placing medium to large-sized plants. The plants are able to grow while not overcrowding the room, but also beautifying it.

The decorative pots used for indoor plants can also be used to beautify the room by placing them in the corners of the room. The corners are normally empty spaces that can be beautified by placing indoor plants.

    Kitchen Windowsills

The kitchen is another suitable condition for some houseplants. The windowsill of a kitchen is likely to receive direct sunlight, which is suitable for plants that thrive in bright locations. Herbs such as basil, mint, and rosemary are common houseplants in this area of the house, as they need direct sunlight and are easily accessible for culinary purposes.

The humidity level of a kitchen is likely to be average due to cooking activities, which is suitable for houseplants. This condition is likely to prevent houseplants from drying up too quickly.

    Bedrooms for Calm and Relaxation

Another area that can accommodate indoor plants, especially those that can thrive under low to moderate light, is the bedroom. The placement of plants on bedside tables or near the window can create a peaceful ambiance that can induce relaxation.

There are plants that are known for their capacity to improve the quality of the air indoors, which can result in a more comfortable bedroom environment. The inclusion of plants within the bedroom can create a peaceful ambiance, which many people believe is beneficial for relaxation.

    Bathrooms with Higher Humidity

Bathrooms are not always the first place that comes to mind when thinking about the placement of plants; however, they can be perfect for plants that prefer a humid environment. This is because steam from showers or baths creates a humid environment that is similar to tropical countries, where most houseplants are found.

Bathrooms that have shelves or countertops are perfect for plants that prefer a humid environment. Even if a bathroom does not have a lot of natural lighting, it can still be a perfect place for plants that prefer a shaded environment.

Entryways and Hallways with Indirect Light

For instance, entryways and hallways can receive indirect light from other rooms and/or windows. While these areas do not receive a lot of natural light, some plants can thrive in these conditions since they can adapt to low light conditions. Placing some plants near doorways and/or against the wall in a hallway can help create a welcoming atmosphere in these areas. Not only can such design elements add some personality to these areas, but they can also help create a more inviting atmosphere in these areas that might otherwise appear bare and plain.

The placement of indoor plants is an important consideration for both the health and design of these areas. Whether an individual seeks inspiration for a garden online or in local stores such as Just Pots in Austin, understanding the optimal locations for these in the house can help create a space that allows both people and plants to flourish.
